About Balcony Solar Kits

Balcony Solar Kits helps Americans understand plug-in solar: where it is legal, what equipment qualifies, how much it may save, and which products meet U.S. requirements.

Why this site exists

Plug-in balcony solar is already common in parts of Europe. In the U.S. it is just starting: a handful of states have passed laws, a safety certification path is new, and U.S.-specific products are only beginning to ship. The information is scattered across bill texts, utility rules and press releases. We put it in one place, with the source next to every claim.

Who runs it

Balcony Solar Kits is an independent research publication from Choisco (choisco.com). Our work is reading state law texts, tracking certification records and product specifications, and modeling savings with public energy data.
